इंग्ल्याण्डका दिग्गज ब्याट्सम्यान केभिन पिटरसनले क्रिकेटबाट सन्यास लिएका छन्। पछिल्लो पटक सन् २०१४ को जनवरीमा अष्ट्रेलिया बिरुद्दको टेस्ट म्याच पछि उनि इंग्ल्याण्डको जर्सीमा देखिएका थिएनन् तर चर्चित बिदेशी लिगहरुमा उनको उपस्थिति रहँदै आएको थियो।
३७ बर्षीय दायाँ हाते ब्याट्सम्यान पिटरसनको जन्म सन् १९८० मा दक्षिण अफ्रिकामा भएको थियो। आफ्नो करियरमा इंग्ल्याण्डबाट १०४ टेस्ट खेलेका पिटरसनको नाममा ४७.२८ को उत्कृस्ट औसतमा ८,१८१ रन रहेको छ। त्यसक्रममा उनको नाममा २३ शतक र ३५ अर्ध-शतक रहेको छ। यस्तै १३६ एक दिवसीय खेलमा पिटरसनले ९ शतक र २५ अर्ध शतक सहित ४,४४० रन जोडेका छन्।

पिटरसन अन्तर्राष्ट्रिय क्रिकेटमा एक बिष्फोटक ब्याट्सम्यानका रुपमा परिचित नाम हो। आधुनिक क्रिकेटमा धेरै ब्याट्सम्यानहरुले प्रयोग गर्ने आक्रामक सट “स्विच हिट” को सुरुवातको श्रेय पिटरसनलाई जाने गर्दछ। विश्वभरका चर्चित टि-२० लिगहरु आइपिएल, बिग ब्यास, पीएसएल आदिमा पिटरसन चर्चित नाम हो।

सन् २००५ मा पिटरसनले एकै बर्ष आइसीसी एक दिवसीय बर्ष खेलाडी र उदयमान खेलाडीको उपाधि पाएका थिए। यो उचाई हाँसिल गर्ने उनि पहिलो खेलाडी हुन्। साथै पिटरसन आइसीसी प्रतियोगितामा उत्कृस्ट खेलाडी घोषित हुने इंग्ल्याण्डका पहिलो खेलाडी हुन्। उनि सन् २०१० को आइसीसी टि-२० विश्वकपमा उत्कृस्ट खेलाडी घोषित भएका थिए।
